Medical Services

	The San Diego American Indian Health Center's Medical Department combines the treatment of acute and chronic health problems with education, emphasizing prevention and proper health maintenance. Family-oriented care is provided for all ages.

	Medical Services include:
	General Medical Care Preventative Health Services Gynecology Diabeties Program Family Planning Pediatrics Immunizations Community Health Minor Surgery Geriatric Care HIV Care Nutritional Care Education and Counseling Home Health Visits


Dental Services

	The goal of the SDAIHC Dental Department is to optimize patients' oral health through education, prevention and treatment. Comprehensive care for all age groups is available.

	Dental Services include:
	Periodic Examinations and cleanings Education Restorative Dentistry Cosmetic Dentistry Oral Surgery Dentures

	The Dental Department also has an Outreach Program designed to heighten community awareness. This service is available to all agencies that serve the Native American population. To schedule a presentation, call the Centers Dental Department


Behavioral Health

	The SDAIHC Behavioral Health Department is staffed with fully licensed psychologists, counselors, and marriage and family therapists who are familiar with and sensitive to Native American customs and traditions.

	Behavioral Health Services include:
	Depression Anxiety Severe Mood Swings Stress Suicidal Thoughts Alcohol and Drug Problems Job-Related Concerns Chronic Health Problems Children's Behavior Problems Domestic Violence Family Difficulties


Community Health Services

	The goal of Community Health Services is to provide primary preventative services through community health education, activities, health fairs, and home visits to those in need.

	Community Health Services include:
	Injury Prevention Immunizations Diabetic Management Nutrition Counseling Mammograms Monthly Educational Classes Home Visits for Patients Referred from the Medical Department, from Infants to Elders Nonmedical Referral Resources for Other Departments and Patients/Clients


HIV / AIDS

	The Center provides HIV, STD, and AIDS information education, and services to anyone in need.

	Free and confidential HIV testing and counseling Blood Testing or Oral Testing available; results in two days (in most cases) Client enrollment for Ryan White Care Eligibility for Medical and Dental Services. Client Enrollment for ADAP (AIDS Drug Assistance Program) for Access to Medications


Alcohol and Substance Abuse Prevention

	The ASAP program provides education and treatment to the persons or families experiencing alcohol and substance abuse. The primary focus is on treating members of the American Indian community. Treatment may include traditional gatherings healings, as well as outpatient counseling and outreach to residential facilities.

	ASAP also works cooperatively with tribes and community organizations to educate about alcohol and substance abuse and positive Traditional options.
