The SDAIHC Behavioral Health Department is staffed with fully licensed psychologists, counselors, and marriage and family therapists who are familiar with and sensitive to Native American customs and traditions.

The goal of Community Health Services is to provide primary preventative services through community health education, activities, health fairs, and home visits to those in need.

  • Monthly Educational Classes
  • Home Visits for Patients Referred from the Medical Department, from Infants to Elders

HIV / AIDS
     

  

The Center provides HIV, STD, and AIDS information education, and services to anyone in need.

  
  • Free and confidential HIV testing and counseling
  • Blood Testing or Oral Testing available; results in two days (in most cases)
  • Client enrollment for Ryan White Care Eligibility for Medical and Dental Services.
  • Client Enrollment for ADAP (AIDS Drug Assistance Program) for Access to Medications

  
Alcohol and Substance Abuse Prevention
   

     

The ASAP program provides education and treatment to the persons or families experiencing alcohol and substance abuse. The primary focus is on treating members of the American Indian community. Treatment may include traditional gatherings healings, as well as outpatient counseling and outreach to residential facilities.
ASAP also works cooperatively with tribes and community organizations to educate about alcohol and substance abuse and positive Traditional options.
