SDAIHC Inter-Tribal Wisdom Gatherer’s

Our Purpose:
The purpose of our Elders Inter-Tribal Wisdom Gatherer’s program is to improve the quality of life for American Indian/Alaska Native Elders, families, and children in the San Diego area in a respectful and traditional manner. To improve the quality of life we encourage everyone to maintain a connection to an active tribal community that supports a healthy tribal identity. We will help advocate for and improve access to services to ensure the safety and well-being of all our elders so they can fulfill their roles as keepers of our local history, customs, and traditions.

Our Chair of the Inter-Tribal Wisdom Gatherer’s is Randy Edmonds, and Co-Chair is Michele Mabry.

As elders, we hope for all our Native families to have access to healthcare, education, and all the resources necessary to live with purpose and dignity. We want all our children to grow up feeling strong in their tribal identity and to contribute back to the community as they become elders. We understand that every family has a unique history and relationship to their tribal heritage. We believe every Native descendant has the right to claim their tribal heritage, whether they are from an urban or reservation area.

The Inter-tribal Wisdom Gatherer’s meet the first and third Saturday of the month from 9 am to 11 pm. These meetings are potluck, bring your favorite dish. Family and friends are welcome to attend. Meeting dates, subject to change, and are located at 2630 First Avenue Room 215, San Diego, CA.
